The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several items.
When an item is leveled out in this way, it is eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes available for it, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item upgrades is at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its max level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will result in a lower chance of success.
Engineers use a level in order to compare the height of the building with a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game, and it can improve an item level upgrade's damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be done through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an item upgrader kit of the same type. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a great or bad thing depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are rolled over the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also has a number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They are also useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to the level of the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when they are updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
