What Will Item Upgrade Be Like In 100 Years
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade items the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item level upgrade's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the Item level upgrade slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from a different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade items costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
