Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the Best item upgrader's stats. The amount of bonus varies based on the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that make your weapons and armor more effective. You can locate them by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma sellers or finding them in item-spheres. They can also be rescued from equipment with them, or through an advanced salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed by removing them from the item.

The main function of upgrade components is to allow an item to be upgraded but they also serve other functions.
