Upgrades can increase the power of a piece of equipment and, sometimes, even add extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the number of random augmentations applied.
For instance, the top racial shield Razortail is often upgraded to enhance its lightning absorb ability in PvP or to add additional defenses on missile based builds in PvM. This makes it more exchangeable over the unupgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens are a way to reroll an item you have acquired, such as armor, weapon, or rings. This allows you to swap the item for a different one similar one and comes with an additional set of bonuses. Reroll tokens are an efficient method of upgrading equipment. They don't preserve the original level of the item and any money wasted will not be refunded.
The survivors can acquire reroll tokens via a variety of methods like the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be located in crates and chests or bought from the market for 150k each. For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" boosts the base defense, and adds an extra 20% chance of blocking. The dps "Wildfire", however increases damage to weapons.
Upgrades can be beneficial for certain items, but they are not because they boost stats. They are more valuable to players when they get the perfect roll. For instance, a flawlessly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly sought-after in the melee PvP community and can be worth 20-50 times the value of the unupp'd version.
The game will highlight the requirements when you select the upgrade component to be incorporated into the item. The game will display the requirements required when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
