World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Leveling

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons.
