Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they are upgraded.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the required component or material needed to make that happen.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For example the addition of a Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from earlier versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.

Once an item upgrade has been leveled out in this way, it is eligible for an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade item step will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will result in lower chances of success.

Engineers employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known point, like an existing benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the level of filling.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item upgrader kit could be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the higher your chance of obtaining the bonus of a different kind.

The game also features various sets which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to advance in the game and attain higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be of different sizes, contain no elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.

There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Armor sets with the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.

Set items can be upgraded to include special tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to parity with their tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the required items to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade item. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
