Origins
Toto's early history that began in 1917, mirrored Japan's rapid economic growth. In the beginning, Toto made products to meet the growing demand for modern, brand new urban housing. It was the first tunnel kiln in the country to produce ceramics continuously. It also pioneered the use of automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.
In the late 1980s, the company began to expand overseas to take advantage of sales and new markets. The company created the Cera Trading Company to import and sell other products from other manufacturers to enhance its own line of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy helped increase sales and increased the firm's market share.
In the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus to research and development of water-related household appliances. It also upgraded its system of distribution to better serve customers and boost profits. The company embraced a just-in time method of managing supply chains and used the same approach in its sales strategy. This resulted in a higher level customer satisfaction.
Toto continued to innovate toilet technology. Its latest toilet, for example is equipped with a strong tornado flush that is more eco friendly than conventional toilets. Toto also makes use of recycled water in its production process and has a green procurement policy. Toto also manufactures faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with higher energy efficiency than conventional models.
The first museum of the company opened in 2015 and features exhibits about Toto's iconic products and their evolution and its group companies (all related to ceramics) and the historical background of plumbing and products like bath units, and in a separate gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum also includes a bathroom with a WASHLET toilet as well as other toilet-related innovations.
Before the formation of Toto members of the group did sessions with various musicians. Boz Scaggs' album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich, guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather, drummer Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also appeared on records by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
It is common for a group with a name like Asia to be a prog rock band however it's actually a fairly straight forward rock group. The group started out as a quartet and recorded two albums: 1979's self titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. However, even though the group have a wide range of musical backgrounds their biggest breakthrough was in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a huge blockbuster, but not without its share of issues. Record companies put the band on the position with the order "give us an album that is a success or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on them to give it. Toto was able to do this with the help from the hit song "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their previous experience in the music industry, as the band members had been session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their sonic trademark has become the standard for '80s music, influencing many contemporary artists.
The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock, with songs such as Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write amazing AOR songs that slowly get their hooks into you. The album also includes some jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. And the album ends with Great Expectations, a song that mixes folk with distortion AOR 메이저먹튀검증 사이트 안전놀이터 추천 (his comment is here) and should sound completely wrong, but actually works amazingly well.
After Toto IV, the band's fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band had to go through various drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the group in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the band continued as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Despite the chaos, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation, which was not as successful as IV. The group managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first album featuring the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was an attempt to return to the classic sextet format and an even more consistent and powerful effort that had a more grittier edge. The more experimental sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the maturation in the group. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased proficiency was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more precise, sharper and less cloying than on previous efforts.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live concert in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed just a few months later and the group embarked on an extensive world tour in support of it. In this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to find songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released in 2001 as a duo album titled Then and Now. It was the first album in the band's history that did not include a single song with the word "A" in its title. It also included one previously unreleased track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial flop and singer Williams was suffering from a severe case of laryngitis which limited his singing capabilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming was replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.
Downes and the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in the beginning of 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially restructuring the band. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time) was later referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
