Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and click the upgrade item button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance, adding a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph by another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it is able to get affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the item's base. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes to choose from, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with another set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will have a lower chance of success.

Engineers utilize a level to compare the height of the building against a known point, like a benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other characteristics. This can be done through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item upgrades. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. It meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more frequently than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be a great or bad thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with a number of sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a good method to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can be of various sizes, contain none at all, or contain just one element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways in terms of size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets with the highest defense value or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own lots of armor or weapons already.

Some set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own special functions which can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item upgrade's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
