Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide Towards Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
item upgrade upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage or more AD or even more attaches.
Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They increase the stats of whatever item upgrading they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. But, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different effect. Certain upgrades grant armor a greater number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which are identified by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades refresh daily or never expire according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are well worth the cost.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its max upgrade level will boost its defense. However, it will also affect its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. For instance, an upgrade may improve the damage that is caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Some weapons have special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher quality. You could continue to do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the best tier of benefits and blessings.
The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to boost their strength. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine the gemstone with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boost when slotted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
All kinds of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to obtain these. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with another jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.
The use of more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels also improve performance and make a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis aren't swappable and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but beneficial advantages. You can find them in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also make up for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's best stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel of the item Upgrade to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also discover other trinkets in form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or killing a certain boss. You can see them by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
