Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

Despite its limitations, the DCT is a valuable tool for analyzing the connection between prosody, information structure and non-native speakers. The ability of the DCT in two or more stages to influence social variables related to politeness can be a strength. This ability can be used to study the effect of prosody in different cultural contexts.

In the field of linguistics, the DCT is now one of the most important instruments for analyzing learners' communication behaviors. It can be used to study various aspects, including politeness, turn taking, and lexical choices. It can also be used to determine the phonological complexity of learners' speech.

A recent study employed the DCT to evaluate EFL students' refusal skills. Participants were presented with a range of scenarios to choose from, and then asked to select the appropriate response. Participants were 46 CLKs with upper-intermediate proficiency who gave responses to DCTs and MQs. They were also asked to think about their evaluations and refusal performances in RIs. The results showed that CLKs frequently chose to resist native Korean pragmatic norms. Their decisions were influenced by four factors: their personalities and multilingual identities, their current lives as well as their relationship affordances. The MQ data were examined to identify the participants' pragmatic choices. The data was classified according to Ishihara (2010)'s definition of pragmatic resistance. These results suggest that native-speaker pragmatic norms are not the norm for Korean learners. They may still be useful as a model for official Korean proficiency tests. Future researchers should reconsider the applicability of these tests in various contexts and in particular situations. This will enable them to better know how different cultures can affect the pragmatic behavior of L2 learners in the classroom and beyond.
