How to Replace an audi car keys replacement G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.
The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.
If this sensor spare Audi key fails the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and could indicate chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It can be a bit difficult to test since there are several connector pins, and each one has different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Examine for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or injectors are not firing at all. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not certain what to do, as i feel i have pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. However, i'm afraid that i might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or in a local parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know the position and speed the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. To do this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger the engine shutting down.
Some of the signs of a failed G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good news is they are very affordable and easily accessible particularly when you're looking at a Bosch sensor, which is what we have. Alternately, the GM version of this part is also a great option.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your vehicle. It is a crucial part of your audi etron key's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is turning. If this sensor fails, it will affect the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

You should detect the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas.
